01
Good quality of work often holds the key to the long-term development of a company. For some jobs, however, inappropriate dressing cannot be acceptable. In my view, employers should be concerned about employees’ dress style.
解析
* hold the key to 决定着
02
思路:人不可貌相。
At first glance, it does not make sense to ask employees in fields to dress in style. That is because good quality of work can be the only requirement for those people. For example, products people use today come from elaborate designs and superb craftsmanship, largely dependent on the outstanding performance behind of its designers and workers. They are running off their feet for good results, making efforts to earn customers' trust in company brands, and creating profits for their companies. Such status quo may squeeze their time for matching clothes. Due to that, dress codes would be meaningless between them and their employers.
解析
* make sense 有意义
* elaborate 精心的 a.
* superb 卓越的 a.
* run off one’s feet for 忙于
* earn the trust 赢得信任
* squeeze 榨取 vt.
* meaningless 没意义的 a.
03
思路:却可“以貌取人”。
However, a closer look suggests evaluating work completion is different from the quality test of goods. After all, some parts of the work are invisible. The devil is in the details, and it would be hard to imagine a business talk happens among a group of people in rags. More precisely, dressing in a decent style or not can mirror identity, leaving the first impression. At this point, employers should require what their subordinates wear; otherwise, a big deal may escape unwittingly. In addition, if paying attention to staff’s wear, leaders and bosses can know an employee. A person adept at wearing is more likely to strive for perfection at work, which can function as a criterion to help find motivated employees.
解析
* invisible 无形的 a.
* the devil is in the details. 魔鬼藏于细节。
* in rags 衣衫褴褛
* mirror 反映 vt.
* unwittingly 不经意间地 adv.
* be adept at 擅长于
